Aluminum Conductor Aluminum-Clad Steel Reinforced. ACSR/AW or ACSR/AS is an overhead conductor composed of aluminum-clad steel wire as a reinforcing core and stranded aluminum wire. Compared with ordinary steel-cored aluminum stranded wire, the weight of the stranded wire is 5% lighter, the current carrying capacity is increased by 2 to 3%, the sag is reduced by 1 to 2%, and the power loss is reduced by 4 to 6%. It has good anti-corrosion performance, long service life, simple structure, convenient erection and maintenance, and large transmission capacity. It is widely used in transmission lines of various voltage levels and transmission lines requiring increased aluminum-steel cross-section ratio, and can also be used in transmission lines in coastal areas, saline-alkali flats, and third- and fourth-level industrial pollution areas.

Aluminum Conductor Aluminum-Clad Steel Reinforced. ACSR/AW is a bimetallic wire that is evenly, continuously and tightly wrapped with a layer of aluminum outside a round steel wire. The strength of aluminum is relatively low, but it is relatively light, and its density is about 1/3 of that of copper. The electrical conductivity of aluminum is relatively high, second only to silver and copper, ranking third. Aluminum has better corrosion resistance: steel has higher strength, but lower electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance. Therefore, aluminum-clad steel wire is the product of strong combination and strong and weak complementation of aluminum and steel. It has the following characteristics:
(1) The size and performance of aluminum-clad steel wire can be adjusted in a relatively large range.
(2) Steel and aluminum are metallurgically bonded, so the bonding strength is good, which is beneficial to the strength of aluminum-clad steel wire.
(3) Compared with galvanized steel wire, Bing has better heat resistance, because the melting point of aluminum is higher than that of zinc, and the melting point of steel is higher.
(4) The clad steel wire has good corrosion resistance. If the aluminum-clad steel wire is twisted with the aluminum wire or the aluminum alloy wire, there is no problem of galvanic corrosion when applied on the overhead transmission line. But galvanized steel wire has this problem. It is therefore preferable to use anti-corrosion barrier protection.
(5) The section of the wire can be made into complex shapes. For example, aluminum-clad steel contact wires (trolley wires) for electrified railways. Its shape is an "8" shape, and one of its manufacturing methods is to use the "Conform" continuous extrusion method to extrude it at one time.
